This position is located in Edina, MN. Embraces and takes personal ownership of Gabberts Brand to deliver exceptional design service in support of our clients needs/desires. Consistently strives to enhance the customer experience and is dedicated to design by creating beautiful rooms. Demonstrates effective professional relationship selling skills to assist Gabberts customers with their design projects and home furnishings needs, being the main point of contact, while partnering with internal and external customers to ensure the customers needs are met and company goals are achieved. Builds a sustainable Book of Business to surpass Written Sales Goals. Is accountable for Score Card Performance Metrics and fulfilling all requirements of Gabberts Sales/Marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Strategy. Provides excellent customer service, making the design experience an exceptional one in order to build long term relationships.

Additional qualifications include: 

  • 2+ years of interior design experience and/or professional sales experience (luxury or design/home furnishings industry preferred). 
  • Outstanding customer service skills, professional presentation and excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated room planning and design skills (manual or computerized). 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.  Ability to follow managers instructions and work effectively with others. 
  • Maintain confidentiality in regard to customer and company information. 
  • Must be able to meet flexible work schedule including working on evenings and weekends to meet the needs of clients and fulfill showroom needs. 
  • Models Gabberts image and culture through positive attitude, appearance, and respect for company policies and procedures. 
  • Must be able to distinguish and differentiate visible elements of design such as color, patterns, etc. 
  • Competent in all aspects of Project Management. 
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in computer technology related to position (including the ability to use Internet, Digital Camera, email, room planning programs, etc.). 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proficiency in project selling, room design, space planning, and have strong knowledge of the creative interior design process. 
  • Builds strong customer relationships through referrals, effective networking and follow through. 
  • Ensures customer problems/inquires are handled quickly and efficiently, with courtesy, fairness, and equity. 
  • Maintains current knowledge on trends and technology in home and commercial furnishings, patterns, color and style trends, and of all resources and vendor programs.
  • Develops client relationships from item transactions to project-oriented rooms/homes and total solutions that include sustainable long-term relationships.
  • Conducts professional home visits to assess scope of design project with additional follow up visits to the home scheduled as needed. 
  • Performs activities outside of the store to facilitate the design process (examples: trip to IMS as needed, home visits, researching resources at other establishments, installations and networking).
  • Refines and effectively uses 30 second commercial/elevator speech. 
  • Actively gaining new persepcties and following up with existing prospects.  
  • Conducts design project business in a thorough, competent manner by accurately completing all required paperwork and effectively using computer systems. 
  • Consistently demonstrates competency in color and design. 
  • Attends all scheduled meetings, including product knowledge, floor tours, pre and post market meetings, quarterly meetings, and team/group meetings.
  • Participates in planning and presenting effective seminars and special events within the organization as well as out in the community. 
  • Builds a comprehensive book of business that supports financial goals and relationship based customer repeat business. 
  • Demonstrates competencies to include sales ability/persuasiveness, building customer loyalty, managing work using time management, building strategic working relationships, technical/professional knowledge and skills, continuous learning, adaptability, stress tolerance, and professionalism/impact to be effective as a creative design professional. 
  • Meets or exceed all Gabberts Quantifiable Performance Metrics and criteria.
Education and/or Experience

Minimum two year Interior Design degree or related or equivalent (FIDER accredited school a plus). Four year Interior Design degree preferred. Associate or Allied member of ASID preferred. Minimum of 2 - 4 years of professional sales experience in luxury sales. 

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees within the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Mathematical aptitude to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data or figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, and using measurement devices.

Reasoning Ability
Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Need to be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
